Specific Learning Differences - Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Asperger's
Syndrome
At Slesser Maclean, we frequently come across
individuals with dyslexia, dyspraxia or Asperger's
syndrome. These conditions vary in how much
they affect the person's ability to perform
in both social and business situations.
Our approach is to encourage the client to
accept these specific limitations while building
on strengths and developing dormant skills.
What these conditions have in common is a surprising
upside – something often forgotten or
ignored when attention is focused on the problem.
Dyslexia
People with dyslexia are often great communicators
and listeners. Typically, they possess good
memories, are lateral thinkers and very creative.
We help them to recognise these strengths rather
than following a route that leads to stress
and frustration.
Dyspraxia
Coaching those with dyspraxia involves encouraging
them to build their talents in verbal reasoning,
computer skills and problem solving, as well
as their original and strategic thinking.
Asperger's Syndrome
Clients with Asperger's syndrome frequently
have an exceptional IQ, yet are hampered by
their inability to interpret body language and
facial expression. Working with us, they learn
how to communicate more effectively with family,
friends and colleagues.
